rustic cnadle in primitive decor

Recently we called up 3 stores in Ohio to see what was selling for them. Here is what they said:

Tammy Moorman – Rustiques - Ohio

“Words” on anything sells. It has been strong for 5 years. Anything inspirational with words on it. But I am tired of ordering it. Vintage is doing well for us. Pale colors, lighter creams. Light creams and beiges.

Homespice Products that sell for you:
  • Trio rugs are doing very well, specially the Trio Charm, even though that’s not a very primitive look.
  • I am still selling a lot of blacks, such as Salem or Kilimanjaro. The Harvest still sells really well.
  • I am bringing in the Ultra Durable Rugs over in my new store.

Jennifer Troyer – Country Gatherings – Ohio

LED glow candles

People are looking for a lot of wooden pieces, old bowls, trenchers. (That’s where your penny rugs go).Lanterns are huge, old looking lanterns.A lot of mirrors that look like “old mirrors”. Old looking wooden signs. Candles are always huge and ALL of the flicker flame stuff, they are really hard to find in the grungy primitive look. (That’s where your penny runners fit in, I’ll put your runner under a lantern and it just sells.)

Homespice Products that sell for you: The Penny stuff you guys are doing are very popular and all the hooked things. A lot of darker colors – blacks, reds, tans, mustards.

Sandy Hatcher - Enchanted Forest - Ohio

Primitive décor : A lot of the dishtowels with the words and the tobacco curtain. Family Heirloom Weavers bedspreads. The colors are still the country red, the blacks, the beiges, (taupe beiges). Most of the knick knack stuff have sayings on them. Burlap is big. And stuff that has burlap accent on them. Burlap pointsettas, burlap ribbons. A little but of cute-sy country still sells.

Homespice Products that sell for you:
  • Love the new ultra durable rug, love the new rugs and I am selling more ultra durable rugs than I the jute. I’ve got one (Ultra-Durable) that’s been down for more than a year, it’s had coffee poured on it every day, and it’s not been cleaned yet. I do still sell the jute rugs, but if people have the money they will go for the ultra durable.
  • My favorite Ultra Durable colors are – Black Forest and Black Mist.
