All you need to know about Indoor Outdoor Rugs
PrintThe modern advancement in fabrication has lead to more extensively designed rugs being introduced in the market. Durable and well-fabricated rugs now are a favorite accent for extending patios, decks, and porches. They improve outdoor design, as well keep dirt and grime from being tracked inside.
Most outdoor rugs that are available in the market are made of polypropylene, nylon, acrylic and polyester. Polypropylene is a solution-dyed fiber and does not absorb any liquid or stains. Most polypropylene rugs are UV-treated to prevent fading from sunlight exposure. They are naturally stain-resistant, mildew-resistant as well as mold-resistant. They can be washed with a hose and bleach without damaging its design and color. Indoor Outdoor Rugs are available in different constructions including handmade, braided style, and machine made. Here is an explanation of the three types of rugs:
- Handmade styles, commonly known as hand-hooked rugs, are the most valued rugs in the market and normally the most expensive. They are available in a broad range of color and design options.
- Machine-woven rugs are available in fewer designs as compared with the hand made styles but are a bit cheaper.
- Braided rugs feature traditional construction and are mainly made of polypropylene yarns. They are available in the market in flat-braided and cable-braided constructions. They sell at the same prices as that of machine-made rugs.
You can easily obtain an Indoor Outdoor Rug made of a backing material that is either polypropylene or any other synthetic fibre. Most of the rugs that are made of natural fiber are not mildew-resistant and are not likely to last for a longer time. On the other hand, braided rugs generally have no backing, therefore are reversible. To find the most ideal indoor outdoor rugs that suit a specific area of your house, you have to consider a number of factors, which include:
- The traffic passing through that particular point and obtain a rug that can withstand heavy foot traffic.
- Choose the right colour and design pattern that will match the already existing outdoor design scheme.
- Consider the weather and obtain a weather-resistant rug accordingly.
- Consider the necessity of the gripping power of the rug noting that rugs with high gripping power are a bit expensive.
- Decide on the size and obtain the appropriate size that matches your entry way or patio dimensions.
When choosing an Indoor Outdoor rugs, keep in mind that lighter shades coloration makes a small area seem more spacious while darker coloration results in a more intimate environment. No matter the color or design you select, you will always achieve a more stylish outdoor living space with rugs.
